Board Directors are elected to provide critical governance and oversight. Anne Gate’s track record shows she’s unfit for that task.
Her reputation is finally catching up with her.

20 Years at Disney.
Scandal after scandal.
Anne Gates served as EVP and CFO of Disney's Consumer Products division, responsible for Disney branded merchandise. During her tenure, factories producing Disney products were exposed for child labor, forced overtime, and egregious worker abuse.
01
Investigations by China Labor Watch and the National Labor Committee documented children as young as 13 working in Disney supplier factories making products for Anne’s division. Some workers even described wages as low as eight cents an hour. And managers reportedly abused workers who didn't meet quotas.
02
A worker at a Disney supplier factory in China reportedly killed herself after being repeatedly abused by supervisors. Another young worker, Liu Pan, illegally hired at age 15, was crushed to death by malfunctioning machinery two years later in a factory where machines were described as "old and outdated."
03
When abuses were exposed, Disney's response was consistent: make a quick exit. In Haiti, Bangladesh, and across China, Disney severed ties with factories rather than fixing conditions — leaving thousands of workers unemployed and in worse situations than before. Labor advocates called it a "cut and run" strategy.
Disney's own Code of Conduct was supposed to protect these workers. Investigations found that almost no worker had ever heard of it.
Anne Gates was a top leader of the division
that profited from their suffering.
AND THEN THERE’S KROGER…

Kroger has spent years building sophisticated surveillance and pricing structures to squeeze as much profit as it can out of shoppers. From electronic shelf labels that can change prices instantly to cameras hidden in store displays and vast profiles built from shoppers’ data, Kroger is watching its customers and ripping them off.

Despite having promised to switch to better eggs, Kroger continues selling low quality eggs from filthy, cruel conditions that would make anyone’s stomach churn.

A Kroger executive admitted under oath to gouging prices on milk and eggs above inflation during COVID. Kroger has also been found charging customers higher prices in towns where customers have no other store options.
Something's wrong with Anne
Anne Gates has been on Kroger's board since 2015 and chairs its Audit Committee: the body responsible for financial oversight, internal controls, and risk management. She is the person who is supposed to catch problems before they become scandals.
Yet during Gates’s tenure, Kroger has faced a price gouging scandal, a failed $25 billion merger blocked by the FTC, mass worker strikes, lawsuits for wage theft, and an animal cruelty controversy. In 2025, Kroger’s CEO resigned over some major ethical violation the company and board has been secretive about. Anne Gates is steering Kroger in the wrong direction.
HOW IRONIC
Anne Gates now serves on the Board of Trustees at Save the Children. Given the child labor scandals at Disney that happened under Anne’s watch – so disturbing they’d make any parent sick – how can Save the Children trust her leadership? Is this anything more than a conspicuous attempt to scrub a cruel reputation?
